In today’s competitive job market, attracting top talent takes work, especially with half of all job offers being rejected.
So what does it take to get people to jump ship? According to a recent Indeed survey of over 4,000 people, compensation is the #1 thing employed candidates take into consideration when looking at a job offer.
While compensation may be the most obvious way to attract in-demand talent, 13% of employed candidates revealed, after they were hired for their current jobs, that they didn’t accept a recent job offer because of poor pay and compensation. 76% of employed candidates claimed pay would most attract them to a new job during their search.
Because skilled candidates are in demand, they also expect a salary increase with a new role, especially if they’re actively looking. In fact, 28 percent said they expect a salary increase of at least 15 percent with a new job offer.
So if you want to attract top talent and convince them to switch jobs, you have to show them how much they are valued, which often comes in the form of compensation.
